We conducted a performance at Kotara, in the form of a pop-up event. We had a great time and did some recruiting as well. Please let us know in the comments if you saw us! Here are a few photos of us at work:
Newcastle City Choir was established in 1954. Originally it was a semi-professional choir with a membership of 130 choristers. In its early years, performances included major choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and the Brahms Requiem. More recently the choir has been a performing group of 30 members and, amongst a range of other performances, presented Vivaldi’s Gloria. As part of its commitment to give back to the community, it gives concerts in local aged care facilities and supports local civic events. Last year the choir also participated in The Shirley Moxey Concert and The Festival Of Choirs.
We welcome all sorts of people.
--- All age groups --- People with limited musical background ---
--- Singing students --- People with choral experience --- Trained singers ---
--- Professional musicians who like to contribute to community music-making ---
What we offer in return is a friendly, safe environment where:
--- You are supported as you grow in your musical ability ---
--- You can assist less experienced singers ---
--- Your expertise can help a community choir flourish ---
